Early Years
In Early Years, children are immersed in English as the primary language of instruction, with dedicated French lessons to introduce multilingualism from the start. This early exposure builds strong communication skills and sets the stage for future language mastery.
Primary School
In Primary School, students follow a bilingual curriculum with most subjects taught in English, while Mathematics and Spanish are delivered in Spanish. French continues as a third language and Cambridge English exams are integrated to strengthen proficiency.
Secondary School & Baccalaureate
From Secondary School, English instruction is tailored to students' proficiency levels for optimal learning. Spanish gains focus, especially in the final years, to ensure readiness for national exams. French remains part of the curriculum, shaping confident, multilingual global citizens.
Through innovative learning approaches, students develop essential skills for success in a multilingual world.
Students at El Altillo International School actively use their home languages alongside English, Spanish and French through translanguaging.
With the support of bilingual resources and dedicated teachers, they don’t just learn languages - they master them, becoming confident communicators. Their multilingual skills empower them to thrive in today’s interconnected world.
Students engage with lessons tailored to their individual language proficiency and learning needs. They access content through scaffolding techniques, sentence stems and graphic organisers, allowing them to fully participate and succeed.
With the support of technology and AI tools, students receive personalised feedback and reinforcement, ensuring they stay engaged and challenged throughout their learning journey.
Students build strong academic language skills through a curriculum where language objectives are consistently aligned across subjects.
By learning through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), they encounter English in meaningful, cross-curricular contexts, helping them develop the language tools they need to succeed across all disciplines.
Teachers receive continuous professional development to effectively integrate multilingual approaches into their teaching.
This includes training in translanguaging, formative assessment of multilingual learners and culturally responsive teaching strategies, ensuring an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.
Students navigate and contribute to a multilingual environment that promotes everyday language use and exploration.
Surrounded by multilingual signage, classroom displays and interactive learning spaces, they are encouraged to use multiple languages in their daily interactions, strengthening both academic and social communication skills in a natural, engaging way.
At our school, we embrace multilingualism as a powerful tool for learning and growth. Together, we foster a multilingual community that promotes creativity, connection and academic excellence.
