Virtual Open Day - 23 October
At El Altillo, International Early Years Curriculum sparks a love for learning, developing essential skills in a nurturing environment. Children grow through positive relationships, empowering them to grow with confidence.
Our purpose-built Early Years Centre combines purposeful play with enriching activities, while our multilingual approach and specialist resources help young learners build confidence, creativity and resilience.
Little learners thrive from their very first days in a dynamic multilingual environment, confidently learning English, Spanish and French.
Through daily phonics and hands-on math, students master foundational literacy and numeracy - from reading to problem-solving - while developing social, physical and creative skills.
Early Years children nurture social-emotional development, promoting independence, collaboration, emotional understanding and respect through everyday activities and play.
Young learners in kindergarten have thoughtfully-designed indoor and outdoor learning areas for engaging lessons and play.
With individual attention, each student gets the guidance they need to grow -academically and personally, in a nurturing environment.
Students breathe life into sustainability, embracing nature through the Eco-School project. Together, they learn, protect and inspire - building a greener tomorrow.
Our admissions process is simple, personalised and includes multilingual support for international families.
Students explore learning through engaging themes and hands-on experiences, guided by four key strands that nurture curiosity, communication, physical well-being and social-emotional growth. This comprehensive approach ensures students build the skills and confidence needed for a smooth transition into Primary Education.
Building confidence and strengthening relationships
Students develop social and emotional skills as they learn to understand themselves, manage feelings, build positive relationships and collaborate with others, laying the foundation for confident and respectful interaction.
Expressing thoughts and understanding others
Students build essential communication skills by exploring speaking, listening, reading and writing. They learn to express thoughts and emotions clearly, gaining the tools to connect with others and thrive in language-rich settings.
Exploring, questioning and discovering Students nurture their curiosity through hands-on exploration, developing early maths skills, scientific thinking and problem-solving abilities. They investigate their world with confidence and begin to think critically about what they discover.
Moving, growing and making healthy choices Students strengthen coordination and motor skills through active play while learning about healthy habits, nutrition and personal safety. These experiences help them develop confidence in their bodies and awareness of well-being.

El Altillo’s Early Years students thrive through play-based, personalised learning guided by the EYFS framework. Growth is measured via observations, milestones and hands-on assessments - fostering social-emotional, cognitive, physical and language development. A tailored approach, enriched with literacy and numeracy resources, builds confidence, curiosity and a strong foundation for lifelong learning - without formal testing.
Students at our school develop social and cooperative skills through play-based learning, group activities and guided interactions. They actively participate in team projects, role-plays and problem-solving tasks that encourage cooperation, communication and empathy. By engaging with their peers in a supportive environment, students learn to model positive social behaviour, build confidence, respect others and strengthen their interpersonal skills.
In the Infant years, children are immersed in a trilingual environment that focuses on core values, language acquisition and emotional growth. From age 1, they begin learning English and French, gradually increasing exposure until age 5. Language immersion, with native-speaking teachers, helps children develop advanced proficiency in both languages from a young age.
Language breakdown:
Years 1 & 2: 98% English, 2% French
Years 3 & 4: 78% English, 2% French, 20% Spanish
Year 5: 72% English, 6% French, 22% Spanish
Students embrace a global outlook from an early age by taking part in international celebrations, themed activities and ILOS programme experiences adapted to their stage. Through playful exploration, they discover diverse cultures while developing communication skills in English, Spanish and French. Active methods like Jolly Phonics support their ability to express themselves confidently in international contexts, nurturing curiosity, openness and intercultural understanding.
Students begin exploring the world around them from an early age through imaginative play, classroom projects and curiosity-driven activities. They discover different professions naturally-through stories, role-play and visits from family members who share their careers. These early encounters help students picture their future, build self-esteem, strengthen communication and develop creative thinking in a safe and nurturing environment.
Chess
At El Altillo, chess is introduced early to support logical-mathematical development and reasoning skills. Through playful activities, young learners enhance concentration, visual memory and problem-solving abilities. Chess fosters cognitive growth alongside emotional awareness, encouraging curiosity and patience. This early exposure lays a solid foundation for strategic thinking and self-regulation, aligning with our commitment to nurturing Innovative and Committed learners from the start of their educational journey.
Sustainable Development Goals
Students in Early Years begin their journey as global citizens by exploring real-world values through play and discovery. Through simple actions like recycling, healthy eating and caring for nature, children connect everyday experiences with the Sustainable Development Goals. Visual SDG displays in classrooms help them relate classroom themes to kindness, responsibility and our shared world - in a way that feels natural, joyful and meaningful from the start.
Eco School
As an Eco school, students are encouraged to embrace sustainability and respect for the environment, learning about responsible resource use and eco-conscious topics integrated into the curriculum. Through engaging projects and campaigns, students develop a strong sense of environmental responsibility, adopting lifelong sustainable habits.
Expert teaching staff
Students are inspired and supported by passionate, native-speaking teachers. Committed to helping them achieve their full potential, they thrive in an environment where they are encouraged to grow, ensuring a rich and fulfilling academic experience.
